Welcome to The Palometa Club, a new, exclusive fly fishing lodge located in Punta Allen, Mexico on the northeastern edge of the famed permit and bonefish flats of Ascension Bay. Managed by one of the sport’s most experienced lodge operators and staffed with the Bay’s premier guides, The Palometa Club is re-defining the saltwater fly fishing experience.
 
The village of Punta Allen is isolated, rustic, and laid-back; the beaches empty and palm-studded. Don’t come here expecting resort activities and nightlife, this is a tropical wilderness, yet untarnished by the hand of man.  What makes Palometa Club's backyard so unique and enticing is that the Punta Allen Peninsula lies on the edge and within the confines the 1.3 million acre Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve, a large protected swath of natural ecosystems designated as a World Heritage Site. Within the area nearly two-dozen remarkable Mayan ruins have been discovered, some dating back thousands of years.

The Palometa Club operates out of a brand new six-bedroom lodge located on the picturesque ocean-side beach of the unique lobster fishing village of Punta Allen, Mexico. Anglers can book fully-inclusive, week-long fishing packages in their quest for permit, bonefish, tarpon and snook. Non-anglers can enjoy snorkeling, guided eco tours and archeological trips within the famed Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve, a World Heritage Site known for its rich marine environment, exotic birds and tropical wildlife, and vast array of Mayan ruins.

Palometa is the colloquial Spanish term for permit and is the perfect name for a fly fishing operation catering to anglers serious about catching this most challenging of saltwater trophies on the fly.
Seemingly endless miles of easy-to-wade, hard-packed white sand flats and rich expanses of turtle grass are the canvas for the world-class fishery that is Ascension Bay.

Whether this is your first time flats fishing or you’re a seasoned veteran, Palometa's professional, highly-skilled, English-speaking guides will make your trip extraordinary. Their fishing program is second to none because of our one-to-one angler to guide formula. This system provides two sets of trained eyes to search the crystal clear water for the fish of your choice. If you are wading, stalking a school of bonefish or hunting permit you have the security of knowing you have a skilled guide coaching you at all times. Noticing a palometa flash or a bonefish tailing is something you may not always see, but your guides will. Experienced anglers have often told us that The Palometa Club guides are the best of the best.

Accommodations
 
The Palometa Club operates out of a new 5,000 square foot building situated directly on the ocean-side beach and boasting such amenities as air conditioning, 24-hour power, mosquito control, broadband wireless Internet, satellite phone and two fully-outfitted fly tying stations. The beautifully-appointed lodge can accommodate 12 guests in six large bedrooms, each with an adjoining full bathroom with hot-water shower. The lodge also features a common great room, modern kitchen and dining facility, and popular outside beach lounge.
 
The day begins at sunrise with mugs of rich Mexican coffee followed by a traditional hot breakfast of cereal, eggs, bacon, ham, juices, toast and pastries. Hardy box lunches are prepared for the fishing boats and typically include sandwiches, fruits, desserts, ice water and other beverages of your choice. After the day’s fishing it’s cocktail time at the outdoor beach lounge where icy margaritas and sweet pina coladas help punctuate the recounting of the day’s adventure. Dinner is served family style featuring delicious local Caribbean and Mexican dishes like moja de ajo, pollo con mole, and chili rellenos, followed by scrumptious locally inspired desserts. Bottled water is used for drinking and ice.

    Fishing

    The Palometa Club is open each year from mid-November through mid-June. The lodge operates on a weekly schedule with guests arriving each Friday evening in time for dinner and departing the following Friday morning shortly after breakfast. Visits shorter than one week may be booked on a space available basis and are billed at a daily rate.
    • Weekly Rate: $3,500
    • Non-fishing partner: $2,000
    • Daily Rate: $600
    Rates based on double occupancy.

    Eco Tours

    Our standard day-long eco tour, which includes birding and wildlife viewing, snorkeling and Mayan ruin exploration, is available on a per boat rate based on the number of people and size of boat. All tours can be fully customized and include lunch and beverages.

    Small boat (up to three people) $300 per boat.
    Large boat (up to six people) $500 per boat.

    Terms and Conditions/Cancellation and Refund Policies at The Palometa Club

    Once Castafly Travel, LLC receives a deposit or final payment for any type of trip, it is anacknowledgment and agreement by the client to all Terms and Conditions and Cancellation and Refund policies:

    Non-refundable deposits and payment.

    Your payment for a trip is non-refundable, regardless of the means for payment, be it credit card, cash or check.

    Deposits

    Unless otherwise noted by the vendor,
    • 50% of the total package price per angler/trip package is due to Castafly Travel, LLC within 14 days of initial booking. This deposit will secure all reservations.
    • The balance or full payment of package price per angler/trip package is due to Castafly Travel, LLC at least 90 days before first day of scheduled trip
    • Castafly Travel, LLC reseves the right to charge a service fee of $100 for any changes to the reservation after initial booking.
     
    Cancellation and Refund Policy 

    Unless otherwised noted by the vendor,
    • All cancellations for any type of trip must be made in writing to Castafly Travel, LLC. Castafly Travel, LLC reserves the right to charge a service fee of $100 for any cancellations of any type of reservation.
    • Cancellation outside of 90 days prior to scheduled departure – 90% of deposit or payment refund or transfer of funds to another scheduled time or another angler.
    • Cancellation between 60 and 90 days prior to scheduled departure - 70% of deposit or payment refund or transfer of funds to another scheduled time or another angler.
    • Cancellation between 30 and 60 days prior to scheduled departure – 60% of deposit or payment refund or transfer of funds to another scheduled time or another angler.
    • Cancellation 30 days or less prior to scheduled departure – No refund of deposit or final payment.
    Trip cancellation insurance and evacuation insurance.

    Because your deposit and other payment is non-refundable, Castafly Travel, LLC suggests you consider trip and medical evacuation insurance. This insurance is the best way to avoid losing your deposit due to unanticipated circumstances or emergencies. Because Castafly Travel, LLC has no ability to control your deposit onceit is forwarded to the respective lodge, outfitter, etc., we have developed a relationship with Sportsman’s Travel Insurance.

    We also recommend trip evacuation/rescue insurance with Global Rescue, a medical and security evacuation service. We strongly urge to consider these types of insurance, be it with Sportsman’s Travel, Global Rescue, or some other trip and medical evacuation insurance company. A brochure for each company is included in your pre-trip planning package.

    Castafly Travel, LLC is merely an agent.

    Castafly Travel, LLC and its affiliated companies and agents act only as agents for contractors or owners and outfitters, hotels, airlines, shipowners, and charter air carriers providing means of transportation or other services. All tickets, vouchers and contracts of such hotels, airlines, outfitters, lodges, operators and owners are issued subject to any and all tariffs, terms and conditions under which such accommodations, means of transportation or other services are offered or provided, and the issuance and acceptance of any such tickets, vouchers and contracts shall be deemed to be consent to their further conditions.

    Castafly Travel, LLC and any of its affiliated or associated companies or agents shall not be or become liable or responsible in any way in connection with such hotels or lodges, means of transportation or other services, or for any loss, injury or damage to or in respect to any person or property however caused or arising out of your vacation booked through our company.

    Itinerary alterations.

    Castafly Travel reserves the right to make such alterations in the itinerary as it deems in its discretion, necessary or desirable, to refuse to accept or retain as a member of the party any person at any time (in such case refund will be based on the actual cost of the unfinished portion of tour) and to pass on to tour clients expenditures caused by delays or offense beyond our control.

    Cancellation.

    Castafly Travel, LLC reserves the right to cancel any tour prior to departure, in which case full refund will constitute full settlement to the client.

    Baggage and personal effects.

    Baggage and personal effects, including items purchased, are the sole responsibility of the owners at all times and no member or agent of Castafly Travel, LLC or its agents, affiliated or associated companies is authorized to accept these for storage, safekeeping, or transportation
  • TRAVEL INFORMATION
    Travel Information to The Palometa Club

    Getting there… Fly to Cancun, Mexico where a Palometa Club associate will meet you and drive you down the club in a private van. If your schedule requires you to overnight in Cancun, their driver will pick you up from your hotel between noon and 1:00pm. The English speaking driver will be happy to stop along the way for you to purchase refreshments or specialized alcohol.

    Guests should plan to arrive in Cancun around noon to 2 P.M. A representative from the lodge will meet guests just outside the airport doors after clearing customs, and drive them approximatey three and a half hours south to the lodge. The road is a paved, two lane highway to Tulum, and from there a narrower, dirt road. If time allows, guests can stop for a quick tour of the Mayan ruins at Tulum.
